Word got around that I'm ready to have a pet again so someone with a pig that had four babies (poor momma!) contacted me and, after going to see them, I'll be picking two sisters up on Monday since my work schedule and Easter are far too busy. I don't like the idea of leaving two new pets alone until I'm sure they'll be able to settle in and aren't too confused by their new cage.
They're calico colored and just so cute! I can't believe how soft their fur is and they didn't really mind being held. One of the sisters had pretty wide eyes, so I could tell she was scared, but I think with her bolder sister around she'll do just fine. I still can't decide on names, though... I've really thought about it and I think I want either Jem and Pizzazz or Dahlia and Iris. There's many neat male duos out there but I really struggled with females.
I'm just really glad I get to start out with young piggies this time. I loved Scuzzy to death, but his age and health problems were really heartbreaking to deal with. I read that 4-6 is the average lifespan of a piggy so I really hope they make it to at least 6! I like the idea so much of having pets that long!
This is going to sound crazy, but I hope wherever Scuzzy is right now he's OK with me getting new guinea pigs and knows he'll always be #1 in my heart.
Oh, but something kind of amusing about that family: The have the weirdest dog combination I have ever seen. When I entered their house, right away a Pug greeted me at the door, but I noticed he had peculiar coloring and more muscles than a Pug should have. Turn out he's a cross between a Pug and a Pit bull! I really don't think that happens too often!
